Project Overview
The "Emergency Reconstruction of Northern Railway Line Damaged by Cyclone Ditwah: Civil Works between Medawachchiya and Talai Mannar" [LOA No: IRCON/9046/SLR.MAHO-OMT/Restoration Work/Civil-04/LOA] is a major emergency railway restoration project funded under Indian Grant Assistance and executed for IRCON International Limited .
Covering 105 km of damaged track corridor between Medawachchiya (MWH) and Talaimannar (TMP) (including Chettikulam, Madhu Road, and Murukkan sections), RR Construction executed rapid-scale formation civil works to restore rail connectivity following Cyclone Ditwah.
The critical scope comprised removal of washed-away debris (2,325 Cum), rock boulder formation preparation (2,820 Cum), ABC sub-ballast compaction (2,400 Cum), geotextile laying (8,120 Sqm), grouted stone riprap slope stabilization (1,025 Cum), and transportation and supply of 3,500 Cum of railway ballast.
Executed within a strict 2-month schedule, this emergency restoration restored safe, high-speed rail transportation to Sri Lanka's northern coastal line under ISO 9001 and IRCON quality standards.
